Hampshire School Games
On Saturday, 22nd June, a team of five boys travelled to Aldershot to take part in the Hampshire School Games. It was an early start, as the coach left the Leisure Centre at 7am, but we arrived at the military stadium well in time for the ‘Athletes Parade’ and introductory welcome by the Olympic judo bronze medallist, Karina Bryant.
We then went off to the venue to play in a very well supported and slickly organised tournament. Our boys were representing The New Forest, competing against other teams from all over Hampshire. The boys did us proud with Campbell Golding and Kai Major actually winning their group before coming second in the next round. Every member of the team won at least one game and all the boys played their best and were a credit to the club. The eventual winners were all from Portsmouth.
A big thank you to Mr Craig Major who came along and helped with the team organisation, but thanks to the boys too and of course Jamie Burton, the Hampshire Development Officer and Nico Caltabiano, who organised the whole event.
