New Milton Table Tennis players shrugged off the turkey and mince pies to win six of their nine matches as the Bournemouth & District league programme resumed after the Christmas break.

The K team are having a better time of it in Div 5 this season and ended the year in 8th position. The full tables showing the league positions for all ten of the New Milton teams appear below:-

The A Team’s Cup Plan Starts To Come Together! (T&D Round One)
There was a break in the Bournemouth and District Table Tennis league programme last week as the week was given over to Round One of the Annual Times and Directory Handicap Cup competition. The New Milton Club entered nine teams of whom five won their matches to go through to Round Two.
The Cup provides an interesting diversion from the league programme in that it enables teams from across all divisions to be drawn against each other in a handicapped competition, best of three matches up to 31, with no doubles.
The Premier’s A team, who were runners-up last season, booked their place in Round Two at the expense of their Div 3 club mates in the G team, who are now out of the competition. Joining the A team in Round Two are the B, C, D and F teams. The E, J and K teams live to fight another day as they will now be drawn into the “Plate” competition. Full results are below:-

Jays Knocked Off Their Perch! (Week 10 Results)
The New Milton Table Tennis Club could only muster three wins out of nine matches in the Bournemouth and District League last week. It was bad enough for the J team when they lost 4-6 to Nimrod C in Div 5, but the K team disobligingly lost 0-10 to title contenders Winton YMCA E, who leapfrogged over the J’s by one point.
The brothers Handy both recorded excellent hat-tricks; Phil earning a point for his A team in the Premier, and Frank’s treble helping his G team to a maximum-pointer in Div 3.
For the second week in a row, “Captain Fantastic” Terry Jenvey inspired his D team to a 7-3 victory in Div 2, aided and abetted by a treble from Chris Pusey.
A special mention also for Svet Ignatov who played up a division to win two games for the E team in Div 3 and then racked up his second hat-trick in a row for his H team in Div 4. Read the rest of this entry
SEVENTH HEAVEN FOR NEW MILTON TABLE TENNIS CLUB! (WEEK 9 RESULTS)
New Milton Table Tennis Club came up with its best set of results in the Bournemouth and District league so far this season as their teams won 7 out of their 9 matches. The club’s only defeat came at the hands of one of their own teams in Div 5 as the J team walloped the K team by 9-1.
The D team (Div 2) were particularly chuffed and relieved to finally get off the mark with a win, thanks to an inspirational hat-trick from captain Terry Jenvey in their 7-3 victory over basement boys Bmth Sports K. There were hat-tricks galore as can be seen from the detailed results below, but a couple of players merit a special mention. This season’s new signing Matthew Winter shone as not only did he come up with a hat-trick without dropping a set for his H team in Div 4, but he also bagged a brace as he played up a division for the G team in Div 3. Brilliant Cup Start for New Milton Club (T&D)
There was a break in the Bournemouth and District Table Tennis league programme last week as the week was given over to the Preliminary Round of the Annual Times & Directory Handicap Cup competition. Three of the New Milton Club’s teams were drawn into the Preliminary Round and they all made it through to Round One.
The Cup provides an interesting diversion from the league programme in that it enables teams from across all divisions to be drawn against each other in a handicapped competition, best of three matches up to 31, with no doubles.
The B and C teams (both from Div1) had a relatively easy passage as they both won their matches by 5-1, beating Bransgore (Div 1) and Merton H (Div 4) respectively. However, the G team’s match against Div 1’s Lynwood B went right down to the wire and the Div 3 outfit just scraped it by 5-4. It all came down to 14 year old Peter Daish’s (playing off +19) match against Lynwood’s Colin Milton (+11) and it was 28-all in the third and final set of the evening. Daish maturely put the two division differential behind him to win the next three points to take his side through to the next round.
Result details:
New Milton B (Div 1) 5 Bransgore (Div 1) 1
Julie Smillie (+13), 2
Malcolm Floyd (+14), 1

Lynwood B (Div 1) 4 New Milton G (Div 3) 5

The B, C and G teams now join the the A, D, E, F, J and K teams in the draw for Round One which is to be played in Week Commencing 3rd December. The Premier’s A team will be itching to have another bash at the title, having come runners-up in the last two years.
DOOHAN’S DOIN’FINE (WEEK 8 RESULTS)
The New Milton Table Tennis Club could only muster two wins in the Bournemouth & District League last week, and one of those was at the expense of one of their own teams in a local derby.
