“J” & “G” – TOP OF THE TREE (WEEK 13 LEAGUE TABLES)
The latest Bournemouth & District league tables show that two of the New Milton Club’s teams are sitting pretty at the top of their respective divisions. The J team captained by Malcolm Douglas took over the top spot in Div 5 a couple of weeks ago, but hot on their heels are Bmth Sports T who are only one point away from the Jays. The G team captained by Frank Handy, who has only dropped one match all season, are riding high at the top of Div 3, lording it over their clubmates in the E and F teams.
The H team are knocking at the door for second place in Div 4, but need to make up space on second-placed Bmth Sports R who currently have a five point advantage.
That’s the good news; unfortunately the B team are struggling to keep their heads above water in Div 1, and with 17 points are only 2 points away from the relegation zone. Basement boys Bransgore are rock bottom on 2 points and are beyond redemption, second from bottom Lynwood B are on 15 points, so Milton quickly need to put some more blue sky between themselves and Lynwood.
The D team are third from bottom in Div 2 and are clustered with two other teams on 15 points. They are currently only clear of the drop zone courtesy of a superior games difference.

Launch of Table Tennis in Druitt Hall, Christchurch
Next Monday, 28th January 2013 at 12.30pm, the Mayor of Christchurch, Peter Hall, will be at Druitt Hall to open an U3A table tennis club. Our chairman, Shaun Newcomb, will also be there to officially launch the new club. One of our members, Elliot Marks, has worked really hard and obtained a table from the ETTA’s Ping Project to set up this club.
If you can spare half an hour or so to attend and show your support for Elliot and the club it would be much appreciated, hopefully see you next Monday! The Druitt Hall is in the centre of Christchurch, just behind the library in the High Street.
PS Sybil has pointed out that this is not a U3A club, but something organised for local residents, thanks for pointing that out Sybil.

A new wooden floor was laid in Room Number 2, opposite the main hall, at the end of December. This room is now an excellent one-table venue for table tennis with good lighting. This room is available on Friday evenings from 7.00 pm for match play or practice. Any team captain or club member wishing to use this facility must speak to Bev Scott-Johns in the first instance on 01425 619552.

G FORCE THEIR WAY TO THE TOP! (WEEK 11 RESULTS)
The New Milton Table Tennis Club signed off the first half of the Bournemouth and District league programme by winning five out of their eight matches. One of these wins came at the expense of one of their own teams as the C team beat the B team in their Div 1 derby.
Div 3 saw the G team wrest the top spot from Ringwood B as Milton beat the erstwhile leaders 8-2 home at Arnewood School. Captain Frank Handy came up with yet another hat-trick and Andrew Daish and Matthew Winter bagged a brace apiece. Handy and Daish combined efficiently in the doubles to land the maximum four points.
