Fourteen of the youngsters who are coached at the evening sessions held by the New Milton club at the Arnewood School recently gained their ETTA Junior Umpire Awards. The course was run by New Milton coach James Lewis and culminated in a short written and a practical test.

Some of the youngsters put their new found skills to the test as they umpired some of the matches at the club’s Annual Junior Tournament recently held at the school. Hopefully many of them will carry on and eventually gain their County Umpire certificates.

The junior coaching has been very successful this year with record attendances. We have a summer break now and coaching will begin again in September. Anybody interested in joining in the coaching should contact Julie Smillie on 01425 614784 (please see “Acknowledgments” below).
