JOY OF SIX FOR NMTTC! (WEEK 8 RESULTS)

The New Milton Table Tennis Club came up with six wins out of ten matches in the Bournemouth and District league last week, including a first 10-0 full house from the G team in Div 4. Hat-tricks from Graham Underwood, Lewis Reading and Eddie Tompkins against a struggling Winton YMCA C helped move the Gees up a place to occupy third slot.

Div 4 indeed proved a happy hunting ground for Milton last week as the F and H teams both won 9-1 to also grab the maximum four points each. The unbeaten Steve Cheesman is now scoring hat-tricks for fun for his table-topping F team as they trounced Shamrock B at Mudeford Wood to maintain their 100% record. He was joined in his treble by Mike Roberts and Sylvia Smith, her first of the campaign. The H team socked it to bottom-dwellers Bmth Sports L at the Grange, courtesy of hat-tricks from Dave Strike and Paul Iliffe and a brace from John Childs.

The other Milton wins were all “7-3’s”, coming from the A, E and J teams. The A team’s win in the Premier against second-placed Merton A came courtesy of a second hat-trick from wunderkind Matthew Daish, a brace from captain Steve Hemmings and one from Russell Wilson. The E team who have only lost one match so far this season beat Bmth Sports E in their own back yard thanks to hat-tricks from Simon Golding and 17 year old Peter Daish. The J team won their third match in a row in Div 5 as they beat Bmth Sports M down at Chapel Gate. Man of the match was Keith Kensley (pictured below) who was celebrating his first league hat-trick since October 2012 having gone very close on a number of occasions. Geoff Biggs bagged a brace, Richard Brockbank added one more to the tally, then Kensley capped his evening by pairing with Biggs to take the doubles.
