Derby Double Delight For New Milton E (Week 19 Results)
The New Milton Table Tennis Club could only muster three wins in the Bournemouth and District league last week, and one of those wins was at the expense of one of their own teams in a local derby. The E team did the double over the F team in the second of their local derbies in Div 3 as they beat them 4-6. Once again, Simon Golding proved to be the F’s nemesis with yet another hat-trick against them.

New Milton Table Tennis Club managed to win six out of their nine matches in the Bournemouth and District league last week. Roy Hobbs’ first treble of the campaign helped his D team to a crucial 7-3 victory over Ringwood A in Div 2 along with a brace apiece from captain Terry Jenvey and Bob Fagan.
ROY’S THE BOY!
Amongst a number of other notable individual performances, a special mention must go to the H team’s Matthew Winter. Not only did he win all his matches for his H team in Div 4, but he also got a hat-trick when he played up in Div 3 for the G team. Read the rest of this entry

Honours Even in Table Tennis Derby! (Week 17 Results)
New Milton Table Tennis Club won five matches in the Bournemouth and District league last week with one of the wins coming at the expense of one of their own teams in a local derby. The G team were out for revenge having lost 4-6 to their E team in their first-round clash in Div 3, and so it proved as they beat their club mates 8-2 at the Arnewood School. It looked like turning into a rout as the G’s won the first eight matches, but the E’s captain Bev Scott-Johns spared the blushes by beating Bobo Jiang, and then Simon Golding & Clive Pitts just nicked the doubles from Frank Handy & Peter Daish by 13-11 in the fifth and final set.

The B team did their chances of survival in Div 1 no harm at all with a 10-0 whitewash over basement boys Bransgore at home at Mudeford Wood Community Centre. The B’s have to sweat it out next week however as they have a “bye”. Read the rest of this entry
A Grand Day Out

On Sunday 2/3/13 Matthew and Peter Daish were dragged out of bed at 6.30 in the morning; they donned their New Milton shirts, and along with their coach Phil Handy travelled up to Cirencester for the Gloucester 2* tournament. This was a strong event with the likes of Finn Morgan-Bayliss, George Haskell, Carl Baldry, Jonny Higgins, Oliver Tyndall and the highest ranked player Alex Ramsden. Read the rest of this entry
London Legacy lives on
The Olympics may have been over for six months now (it hardly seems that long), but the legacy of the London 2012 Games continues for those both young and old across the country.
Elliot Marx, who hadn’t picked up a table tennis bat for 40 years, was inspired to return to the game after watching the Olympics and Paralympics and hopes that her story can inspire others to get back in action. Read the rest of this entry

F’s ARE EFFERVESCENT!
New Milton Table Tennis Club chalked up a magnificent seven wins out of their ten matches in the Bournemouth and District League last week, three of them through 10-0 whitewashes. Both the D and H teams were given a three match start as their opposition turned up a player short, but the F team had it all to do. The F’s Sylvia Smith and Lewis Reading came up with their first hat-tricks of the campaign, Ian Linney came up with his second treble, and Smith & Reading took the doubles in three straight sets to complete the rout. NMTTC links with local Schools.
New Milton Table Tennis Club was selected to run two taster sessions for the ‘gifted and talented’ children from local schools. Children with particular sporting talents were chosen from across the region and have been given the opportunity to try out several sports, including table tennis. Shaun Newcomb and Julie Smillie introduced the group to the basics and then they were given a carousel of activities to try out. Even after the short session the children made good progress and more importantly had good fun playing the game. Hopefully one or two may be motivated enough to come and join the junior club coaching evenings at Arnewood on a Tuesday.
A note to our regular juniors, there will be no coaching next Tuesday (5th March 2013) as Arnewood have a parents’ meeting in the hall, the next session will be Tuesday 12th March when several juniors will be completing their umpiring award. The junior tournament this season will be on Tuesday 23rd April.
