E’S ARE GOOD IN DERBY WIN! (WEEK 6 RESULTS)
New Milton Table Tennis Club came up with four wins in the Bournemouth and District League, but one of the wins was at the expense of one of their own teams in a local derby. Turning the form book upside down in Div 3, the E team beat their table-topping G team by 6-4, despite yet another hat-trick from the unbeaten Frank Handy. Handy was joined in a treble by brother Phil whose threesome helped the A team to a hard-fought draw in the Premier. The performance of the week came in Div 4 as the H team whitewashed basement boys Winton YMCA D 10-0, thanks to hat-tricks from Matthew Winter, Luke Gurton and Dan Williams. In Div 5, the table-topping J team were gifted a 10-0 victory and four points as Bournemouth Sports V had to concede their match as they couldn’t put out a team. Hungarian Zoltan Karib-Barath and 12 year old Matthew Daish came up with their first hat-tricks of the season to help their B team to a 9-1 victory over Bransgore in Div 1.

BIRTHDAY BOY’S PREMIER JOY! (WEEK 5 RESULTS)
New Milton Table Tennis Club had their best week in the Bournemouth and District league so far this season as they won five out of their ten matches, including welcome first wins for the B and F teams. Star performers included Matthew Daish (pictured below) who celebrated his 12th birthday a day early by winning a game in the Premier having been called up from Div 1. Ian Linney registered his first hat-trick for his F team in Div 3, and Sam Watkins played out of his skin to help his J team to a 6-4 win over fellow Div 5 title contenders Bournemouth Sports T. The G team’s Frank Handy continues to defy superlatives as he scored yet another hat-trick to remain unbeaten in the league.

FISHER NETS A TREBLE! (WEEK 4 RESULTS)
15 year old Jack Fisher bagged a hat-trick to help his K team (Div 5) to a rare victory as they beat Merton J 6-4 in their own back yard. Further heroics came in Div 5 as hat-tricks from Richard Ursell and Keith Kensley helped propel their J team to the top of the division. Not such good news at the opposite end of the league as the club’s top three teams all lost, including the A team’s whitewash at the hands of the Premier leaders. HANDY’S STILL HANDY! (WEEK 3 RESULTS)
In the first of the New Milton Table Tennis Club’s local derbies, the G team edged it over their F team 6-4 in Div 3, thanks to yet another fine hat-trick from the unbeaten Frank Handy. The club’s best result of the week came in Div 5 as the J team demolished league newcomers Winton YMCA F by 10-0. Also worthy of a mention is the club’s only wheelchair player Shaun Newcomb who played up in the Premier from Div 1 and won two matches, including a win over ex club mate Geoff Ware. Brian Bickell No. 2 in England!!
Dear fellow club members – Please accept my apologies for the slight delay in my adding this post, sent to me at my request from Brian Bickell on 2nd Oct. – the phone call to which he refers and the subsequent call up for the national squad was the reason Brian and Olga could not attend our recent club social. Very well done Brian – please don’t be so modest and let us know when you’re No.1! Read the rest of this entry
Poor Week For New Milton Table Tennis Club (Week 2 Results)
The New Milton Table Tennis Club could only come up with one win out of their seven matches in the Bournemouth and District League last week, the other results being five defeats and a draw. The gloom was slightly lifted as new signing Matthew Winter scored a hat-trick in his league debut for the H team in Div 4. He was joined in his treble by Peter Daish and Frank Handy as they helped their G team to a 9-1 away victory over Nimrod A in Div 3. The full results are below:- Read the rest of this entry
Mixed Start For New Milton Table Tennis Players (Week 1 Results)
The Bournemouth and District Table Tennis league got underway last week with some highs and lows for the New Milton Club, who once again entered 10 teams into the league. Whilst the Premier’s A team had a “bye”, the club’s haul was 4 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats. The club’s best performance came from the J team who stormed Div 5 with a 10-0 demolition of Merton J. Ping Pong! – PG

Director: Hugh Hartford
‘Pensioners from across the planet compete in the World Over-80s Table Tennis Championships in Inner Mongolia.
Eight players with 703 years between them guide us through the extraordinary world of life at the table, sometimes ruthless, sometimes emotional, always entertaining.’
‘This film is fantastically shot with some incredible music and a cast of characters that no script writer could come up with. 10 out of 10, an absolute joy from start to finish. Watch it, then tell all your friends and family to watch it. Then go out and get a ping pong set.’
See it at the Regent Christchurch
